Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You? What High-Achieving Women in Houston Need to Know
You've done the work. You've read the books, maybe even tried therapy before. You understand your patterns intellectually, but something still feels stuck. Still heavy. Still not quite right.
If that's you, an EMDR Intensive might be exactly what's been missing.
What is an EMDR Intensive, exactly?
Unlike traditional weekly therapy, where you get 50 minutes a week and spend half of it catching up, an EMDR Intensive is a concentrated, focused block of time dedicated entirely to processing the things that keep you stuck.
In my Houston-based practice, intensives run from 3 to 9 hours of focused EMDR processing (spread across sessions), bookended by a thorough intake interview and a post-intensive integration session. You come in, we go deep, and you leave with real movement, not just a homework list.
Who is a good fit for an EMDR Intensive?
You might be a good fit if:
- You've done talk therapy but still feel it “in your body”
- Your schedule is packed and weekly sessions feel like one more obligation
- You're in a season of crisis or major transition and need support NOW
- You're a high-achieving woman or mother who performs "fine" while feeling anything but
- You want to tackle something specific, a loss, a relationship wound, a childhood pattern, without dragging it out for a year
I work with women across Texas, virtually for residents statewide, and in-person at my Bellaire, TX office near Houston. I also regularly work with clients who travel from Dallas, Austin, and out of state.
How is it different from regular EMDR therapy?
In a standard 50-minute session, you might get 25–30 minutes of actual EMDR processing once you account for check-in, setup, and wind-down. That's a narrow window.
An intensive gives you a runway. You stay immersed in the work. The nervous system doesn't have to "re-open" the wound week after week. You can actually get somewhere.
Research backs this up, studies show that intensive EMDR formats produce significant symptom reduction, sometimes in just a few days, with results that hold at follow-up.
What does an EMDR Intensive cost in Houston?
My intensives range from $2,304 for a 3-hour weekday intensive to $6,048 for a 9-hour weekend program. Each includes a pre-intensive interview, your intensive sessions, a post-intensive integration session, a personalized workbook, and resources.
I know that's a real investment. But compare it to 6–12 months of weekly sessions at $200/session and the years of your life spent still stuck. The math changes.
