EMDR Consultation for Therapists
You didn’t learn EMDR to play it safe.
Individual and group EMDR consultation for therapists who are done second-guessing themselves and ready to actually trust their skills in the room. Let’s build the kind of confidence that changes everything…for you and your clients.
Let’s be honest about what happens
after basic training.
You sat through the training. You took the notes. You practiced the protocol with your fellow trainees and thought, “okay, I think I can do this.”
Then you sat across from a real client with a real trauma history and a nervous system that did not read the textbook. And suddenly everything you learned felt just out of reach.
Maybe you froze mid-session. Maybe you played it safe and stayed in phase two way longer than you needed to. Maybe you left the room thinking, did I just mess that up?
Here’s what I want you to hear: that doesn’t mean you’re not ready. It means you’re growing. And growth needs support, not isolation.
Consultation isn’t remedial. It’s where good therapists become great ones.
I’m Kristin Cogan, LPC, EMDR Certified Therapist, and Consultant-in-Training, and I built this consultation space because I’ve been exactly where you are. That gap between knowing the protocol and owning it in the room with real, complex, messy cases? That’s what we close together. And honestly? It’s my favorite work to do.
Here’s What We Dig Into
This isn’t consultation where you sit and nod and leave feeling the same way you came in. We go deep. We get specific. And you leave every session with something you can actually use.
01 — Nervous System Regulation + Somatic Integration
EMDR happens in a body, not just a brain. I bring a somatic, nervous system-informed lens to every consultation session. You’ll learn to recognize when your client’s system is activated, when they’re in their window of tolerance, and how to work with the body’s intelligence instead of overriding it. This is the piece most consultation misses. It’s the piece that changes your clinical work.
02 — Complex Trauma + Dissociation
Let’s be real, complex cases don’t follow a script. We’ll work through dissociative responses, layered trauma histories, and those moments mid-session when the processing gets complicated and your instinct is to pull back. I’ll help you trust yourself to stay in it and know what to do when you get there.
03 — Protective Parts + What Looks Like “Resistance”
When a client’s system says “not yet,” that’s not a roadblock, that’s the work. I’ll help you understand what’s happening underneath the resistance, how to honor protective parts, and how to move the processing forward without pushing past what the client’s system is ready for.
04 — Phase Work + Clinical Confidence
Whether you need to sharpen your preparation and stabilization in phases one and two, or you want to feel more solid during reprocessing, we refine your skills across all eight phases so the whole thing feels natural. Not forced. Not scripted. Yours.
Two Ways to Work Together
Both individual and group consultation hours count toward EMDRIA certification. All sessions are online via Zoom, show up from wherever you are.
per session
Your cases. Your questions. Your growth edge. Individual consultation is where we get into the specifics of what’s happening in your sessions and build your confidence from the inside out. This is focused, personalized, and built around you.
per person · small groups of 4
There’s something powerful about learning alongside other therapists who are navigating the same questions you are. You’ll get diverse case perspectives, shared learning, and the reminder that you are absolutely not the only one figuring this out.
This Is for You If…
You’ve completed your EMDR basic training (or you’re close) and you’re ready to bridge the gap between learning the protocol and using it with confidence.
You’re working toward EMDRIA certification and need consultation hours with a Consultant-in-Training who actually makes you better.
You’re seeing complex trauma cases and want guidance from someone who understands how the nervous system shows up in the room.
You care deeply about doing this work well, not just technically, but in a way that’s attuned, somatic, and effective.
You want a consultant who feels like a collaborator, not an evaluator, where it’s safe to say “I don’t know” and grow from there.
You’re done playing small with your EMDR skills and ready to become the therapist you trained to be.
A Little About Me
Hello!
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDR Certified Therapist, and EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training. My clinical work lives at the intersection of trauma, nervous system regulation, and somatic healing. I don’t believe you can separate what happens in the body from what happens in the therapy room and that lens shapes everything about how I consult.
I’ve sat with the complex cases. I’ve navigated the moments where processing goes sideways and the textbook doesn’t have an answer. And I’ve learned that what makes a therapist truly effective with EMDR isn’t perfection, it’s having the support to trust yourself in real time.
That’s what I want this consultation space to be. Not performative. Not intimidating. A space where you bring your real clinical questions, your stuck places, and your growth edges and you leave with clarity, skills, and the kind of confidence that actually sticks.
I’m direct. I’m warm. And I’m genuinely invested in watching you become the EMDR therapist you’re meant to be.

Questions You Might Have
-
Yes. As an EMDRIA Consultant-in-Training, I can provide consultation hours that count toward your EMDRIA certification. A CIT can provide up to 15 hours of consultation to any single consultee working toward certification.
-
Yes…IF you want this to count toward your EMDR Certification. You have to have completed basic training +10 hours included, you should have received a Completion Certificate.
If you don’t care as much about the certification and you just have questions now you want answered, you’re welcome to schedule consultation.
-
Individual gives you focused, one-on-one time with your specific cases. Group gives you the benefit of shared learning and multiple perspectives in small, intimate groups of four. Both count toward EMDRIA certification.
-
Come anyway. Plenty of therapists seek consultation to strengthen their skills, get support with tough cases, or simply feel more confident. Certification is one path. Growing as a clinician is the real one.
